Welcome to the online home of Local Matters with Ken Moore!
Welcome to Local Matters! Every two weeks I interview people with a story to tell about how they are working to support our community. I talk with all kinds of folks. Two of the most watched interviews were one with the McMinnville Police Chief, Matt Scales and the other with two recovering drug addicts, Allison Highsmith and Timmy Flanagan who serve as mentors for other recovering addicts. Both of the interviews revealed the Heart of the Matter…... their passion to serve our community. That is my purpose with this TV show, to serve the community by helping us get to know each other and the important work that we do. A more recent interview was lighter in nature but addressed the real problem of feral cats. The interview was with Dawn Witt, the Executive Director of Homeward Bound Pets. She brought two cats with her that were available for adoption and they sit on the interview table for the whole 30 minute show. The cats were both very happy with the attention and there was lots of petting and purring. It is getting a lot of views which once again proves, the internet loves cat videos!
I have one more interview to do in the four part, on-site, Local Wine Series. The first interview was with an owner of The Barberry Restaurant in McMinnville, Dustin Wyant. I decided to start with him because of his extensive knowledge of local wine and I wanted to show the community the inside of this incredible new building. Be sure to go for a meal, tell Dustin I sent you and ask to order a small vineyard local wine from the “Wine Village”. Check out the other two on-site interviews at Youngberg Hill and David Hill Vineyards.
